A Parachute for emergencies

“We regard God as an airman regards his parachute; it’s there for emergencies, but he hopes he’ll never have to use it.” We treat God this way, then wonder why our spiritual lives are so unsatisfying, our prayers aren’t answered, and we don’t hear God.
